At the latest one week before the event, all individually registered participants will receive a confirmation email containing their personalised number (if registered by 16 September) or an e-ticket. You can take this number to collect your event pack on site from the pre-registration desk on Saturday 5 October (12-5pm) and Sunday 6 October (8:00-10:30am).

If you registered as part of a group (school, company or association) with group collection you will not be able to collect your bib number personally, but through your group leader. That person is responsible for collecting and distributing the bib numbers for the entire group.

Collect your T-shirt by presenting your envelope or e-ticket.

Please note: The size chosen on the registration form is purely informative and does not guarantee this size T-shirt will still be available at the time of collection. The earlier you collect your shirt, the higher the chance your preferred size is still available.

The timing is done using an electronic chip. This chip is located on the back of the race number and it measures the net time between start and finish. That means that your time will start to be measured only when you cross the start line. This extra service ensures a more correct time measurement.

This chip is included in the entry fee

and does not have to be recuperated after the race.

Bruges is a compact city. The use of motor vehicles in the historic inner city is not recommended. The Park and Ride areas are situated right outside of the city centre. Here you can park your car for free and for longer duration. The city centre is a stone’s throw away on foot or by bus. All info: www.visitbruges.be/parking-in-bruges-2.

Athora Great Bruges Marathon

The time limit for the Athora Great Bruges Marathon is 6 hours. By order of the police the roads will be opened for traffic based on this pace. Those who run more slowly will be asked to stop their race or continue running at their own risk, without the roads being cordoned off.

Athora Great Bruges Half Marathon

By order of the police, the course will be opened for traffic after the last runner, following a tight schedule of 7 minutes per kilometer.

Storage sports bags

You can choose to hand in your sports bag with the storage area provided.

A sticker with a unique number will be stuck on your bag and you will receive a sticker with the same number to stick on your bib number. After your participation in the event, you can collect your bag again upon presentation of the sticker on your bib number. If you lose your sticker, you will only get your bag back if you can give a precise description of the bag and contents.

The organisation will take the necessary safety precautions to guard this space as best as they can, still, use of the storage area is at your own risk. The organisation cannot be held responsible for any damage, loss and/or theft of personal belongings.

Some recommendations:

  • Use a sports bag that can be fully closed and make sure it is all zipped up so that no items can fall out of the sports bag
  • Loose items of clothing or plastic bags will not be accepted
  • Do not leave any delicate items in your sports bag (e.g., iPhone, sports watch, spectacles, wallet, cash, keys, etc.).

You do not have to enter a personal best when registering.

For the start of the marathon you can go and take your place in the start box of the time you are aiming for, just like the pacers. We do not perform checks. Thanks to the fair play of the marathon runners everyone can have a good start.

  • The start boxes for the marathon : – 2.59 hrs / – 3.15 hrs / – 3.30 hrs / – 3.45 hrs / – 4.00 hrs / – 4.15 hrs / – 4.30 hrs / – 4.45 hrs / – 5.00 hrs.

Several very experienced, mainly Belgian runners have offered to run as pacers for the Athora Great Bruges Marathon on Sunday 6 October.

The pacers will easily be recognizable in their start boxes thanks to their colored flags:

SPORTOGRAF.COM is the official photo service of the Athora Great Bruges Marathon. These photographers have acquired a good reputation in recent years with their fully digital service and competitive prizes.

In view of the fact that they themselves are active runners, they have an outstanding feeling from the perspective of the participant.

All participants can have their medal engraved with name and time immediately after the race. In the registration form, you can tick ”medal engraving” for this for €8.

If you did not tick this on your registration form, you can still decide this yourself on the spot and pay €12 for this, this as long as there are still available places.

Het hele parcours is verkeersvrij. Wanneer het verkeer opnieuw wordt toegelaten, hangt af van de positie van de deelnemers en verschilt dus van straat tot straat. This information will be published ahead of the event.

Visit Bruges

For centuries, the Bruges canals have connected the city to the sea, a guarantee of prosperity and wealth. International merchants built Bruges into one of the largest Hanseatic cities. In the 15th century, the city flourished as never before. The authentic medieval urban fabric was preserved, and large parts of the historical heritage remained virtually intact. It is therefore logical that UNESCO recognised the entire inner city as a World Heritage Site.
